Here is our most recent travel story..Follow us if you dare :)
Our Princess is into competitive cheer and we had a competition coming up in Daytona Beach.So what better way to spend the weekend than with the MOUSE!! I started planning right away and booked our meals.We usually go from one dining plan to the other or none at all.This time I was able to get into 2 places we have been wanting to go...so off to get the Dining Plus!
I love details and I love planning things down to the minute but I was busy planning trips for other people so I just thought this trip would be a free range one.Why not .. right?!
I knew we had to be at Epcot on Friday for a early supper with Mickey at the Garden Grill and I knew we had to be at Epcot again for breakfast with the Princesses.And I knew that we had to be in Daytona at the beach at 9:40 to compete.And that's all I knew.
The days got closer and I got more nervous because I didn't have every detail planned out.This was not like me.Who had I turned into?? Oh gosh...could I do this.
The night before we were tossing clothes into the suitcases like crazy people.Trying to get ESH to bed so we could leave out of here at a decent time to spend time in the parks to get back to the resort because we had to drive back up to Daytona Beach bright and early Saturday morning.So we knew it would NOT be a late night in the parks.
8am Friday 3/18/2011-We woke up...Tossed the bags in the car.Fed ESH and were out the door! We got to the resort at about 11:45 to check in.All the way ESH was asking Which resort are we staying in.Knowing her and knowing the love she has for POP Century I booked it just for her.We have stayed in many resorts with her over the last 4 years and this was her 10th trip so I figured we would let it be her favorite resort.
Online check in ROCKS because the last 2 trips we have done the online check in and gotten to the resort earlier than check in time and our rooms have been ready.Maybe we have just lucked out but I am thinking there has been some Pixie Dust added to the trips when we can get our car unloaded and hit the parks all day.
We were off to experimental prototype community of tomorrow..AKA EPCOT! We were all 3 excited when we got the Mickey's Monitor in the mail and they had a sneek peek at the Flower and Garden show.We were on a mission to find all of the topiaries around the world.Not an easy task but I believe we did it.
First off we stopped to smell the flowers then headed over to see Nemo and the Mine birds.
This place turns my stomach every time we get near it.Once upon a time ... B.E. *before Erinlee* Brandon and I came to Epcot and someone decided to vomit just outside of the Living Seas in the bushes.I am a sympathy vomiter and I ran with my ears plugged from the area.So of course now every time we come here I just hear that awful sound of some one puking and there is no one there.This has been 11 years ago people..and I still can't get past it.
On to Turtle Talk with Crush.It wouldn't do but for our little offspring to be right up front to talk to Crush.She was the 2nd kid picked.Must have been the Agent P shirt she was wearing.So Crush asks where she is from?She says"I'm from Georgia,my mama is from FL and my daddie is from Boise".Crush looked confused.SO he says again..Where do you live?She said GA.He said "Where does everybody else live?" She said " I don't know"..Then .. wait for it....He said Where are the parental units to this offspring..OH GREAT!!! Well Brandon raises his hand and I duck.*we were all Agent P for the day in matching T's..so there was no escaping this*He said "OH I want to talk to the big Kahuna over there!!" The guy comes over and Crush asked Brandon "where do you live" He said "GA" then Crush said "Are you sure?" Then comes a speech about teaching our offspring and she knew a lot etc.It was rather entertaining for everyone because they couldn't stop laughing.
We were also on a mission to find more Hidden Mickey's that we haven't found before....on the way out we found a few.And ESH found one of the divers to pose with ... Ahhhhhh To be 6 again!!
Then we found ourselves heading towards The Land ... Our reservations were for 4pm at the Garden Grill.We haven't ever been there and it's been on our list for a while.We had enough time to squeeze in a ride on Living with the Land before heading off to the Garden Grill.
We found a lot of cool HM'sok by me.When our piggies are tired and we want to relax we head over to the Land and grab lunch at the Sunshine Station and then go for a cool ride before heading out again.
4pm on the dot we are in line for the Garden Grill! I think we all 3 were drooling by this point in the day.We had breakfast and snacks in the car.But lunch was forgotten about.We made up for it trust me!It was everything we hoped for and more.I am personally not a fish/seafood person.I did look at the menu before booking but thought there would be something I could eat.So we were served family style.
Our server was very kind in explaining that we could get seconds of anything we liked ... Erinlee wasn't too pleased with the kids menu choice.It was a baked drumstick,mac and cheese,broccoli and sweet potato fries.So when he came back he noticed that she hadn't touched her food.I politely explained that she doesn't eat anything but white meat and she is not a fan of the choices before her.
He said OH GOSH..no problem .. let me get her some chicken nuggets and fries.So off he went.This man was making a good tip off of just that alone.He brought back nuggets and fries.THANK GOODNESS for kind people.Ours was started off with a fresh salad from the veggies grown right there in the Living with the Land section of the Land.
Our main meal consisted of mahi mahi (this is the 2nd time I have tired it and I can say now that I am not a fan) turkey breast with gravy and dressing then Char Grilled Beef Strip Loin with smashed potatoes! We got seconds of everything except the mahi mahi.Then out came dessert!
OH Had we only known we would NOT have had seconds...Strawberry/Rhubarb Crisp, with Vanilla Bean Cream *not ice cream*.The angels sang and there was a glowing light coming from above when he sat this in front of us.WOW!
Somewhere in there we were graced with the presence of Chip,Dale,Mickey and Pluto.They were all after our food and Erinlee asked Pluto to sit beside her so she could scratch his head.It was a wonderful meal and I know we will be back again for this one!
We waddled out and headed back into the park.By then we all complained that we needed wheelchairs to roll around in because we were so full.
Captain EO....What can I say.My daughter is only 6 but has wonderful taste in music.She has had an obsession with Michael since he passed away and when she heard Captain EO had him in it it's a MUST DO at least two times a trip or more.So off we went.At least we could sit,watch and let our food settle.
We finished our voyage and wiped the sneeze off of us from Hooter.That's when she saw it.FLUTTERKITTY *you know Captain EO's sidekick* .. OH I HAVE TO HAVE FLUTTERKITTY! Well she got a gift card with her allowance from the past weeks so who were we to tell her what she couldn't buy.So Flutterkitty and a brand new Captain EO shirt was bagged up by the CM who giggled the whole time because the 6 yr old was explaining the whole show to her and how she loves Michael Jackson.
