The scream of death!!!

WOW !!! Today was a day I don't know that I want to repeat.I am so thankful for having a healthy little girl and my heart goes out to anyone who has to take their children for testing or surgeries of any kind because I don't know how they do it.There's something about those tear filled big blue eyes that was pleading with me.My heart was broken into a million pieces when Erinlee got her blood taken today.
She has been on allergy medicine for 4 yrs now off and on.A nagging cough and sinus draining too.So today in talking with her doctor she suggested an Asthma test and allergy testing *blood test*.I felt my knees buckle when she said the word blood.I HATE needles..I freak when it's suggested to me about getting a blood test or even an IV.I know in the long run I will feel better once it's over but it's the initial shock of it being done.
ESH on the other hand hasn't been exposed to more than shots since she last had them at the age of 5 I think it was.
We went into the lobby and I took a number. She asked if we were picking up her meds at a new counter?I told her no that we were going to do something different today and I didn't want her to have to do it but it was going to help us find out what's causing all of the sinus issues she is having. She looked at me like what is it? I hugged her and told her she was giving blood ... not a lot but some. She was like.ok..whatever. Then she asked THE QUESTION..Will it hurt? Well I can't lie to her.I don't like to sugar coat things.I find that it only makes me look bad.So I said...yes but only for a few minutes. They will stick your arm and take the blood and then wrap your arm tightly so it will stop the blood and we are done.SIGH!! She had tears already forming in her big blue eyes...And sat in the chair beside me with a death grip on Flutterkitty *you know the thing from Captain EO* ... Already crying and saying I don't want to.I got her checked in and the lady gave me 2 suckers to bribe her.NOPE wasn't budging. She said that there was a guy coming to hold her arm for me and I could just hold her in my lap.So I went and picked her up and took her back. She had started the waterworks big time by then.I was feeling my heart breaking off piece by piece. He was very nice and talked to her about Flutterkitty. He handed her a tissue to wipe her tears. *Love tender hearted men in uniform* ... He told her step by step what he was going to do and how things worked. He had chill bumps on his arms. You could see this little girl in my lap was breaking his heart too.So he asked me to bear hug her and he grasped her arm very tight so she wouldn't move it and we could do this only once. The lady stuck her with the needle and there it was...the scream of death! If anyone has ever heard her scream you know what I am talking about. It is at decibels that will break glass!!! I'm not even joking here.He must be deaf by now and I am waiting on his lawyer to contact me.Everyone in the clinic probably dropped what they were doing thinking they had a fire alarm! She held it for about 15 seconds..And stopped and sobbed so hard she lost her breath. They got her done and wrapped up.He proceeded to tell me he has never heard a scream so high pitched it was louder than anything he has ever heard.I told him we have always told her that if anyone ever tried to snatch her to do that in their ears!!
We were done.I asked her if she wanted a sucker or 2..NNNNNNNOOOOOO through the tears...How about Gnomeo and Juliet on blu ray ?? NNNNNNNNNOOOOOO followed by more sobbing. How about Ops for lunch...NNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOO!!!!!! I just want an iPAD!!!! Listen y'all .. If I would have had the $$$$ to drop right then and there my baby would have had that iPad.I was willing to buy her Cinderella's castle at that point..ANYTHING!! It was so sad. Her eyes were swollen and red.She was sobbing and nothing was working.
We went over to get her meds to try and the girl at the window asked would a sucker make it better she said NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I want an iPad... :( The girl giggled as did everyone else in hearing range. And if they didn't it was because she had deafened them while screaming).
I'm happy to report that we made it to Ops for lunch and then came home for a nap.Her bandage is off and she is going to make it through this..No serious damage was done.Only to my heart!!
